CNPE responds to both current and perennial needs in the nonprofit sector. We convene and connect people from across the sector to find new ways to move forward. We serve as a central place for nonprofit staff and leaders to gain and improve their skills. We also advocate for the sector so both the for-profit sector and governmental sector understand the profound value that the nonprofit sector brings to our community.
Our strategic plan sets out four priorities to help us achieve our mission:
- Elevate community leadership & convening, which includes nurturing a thriving nonprofit/social impact sector ecosystem through community convenings, elevating CNPE's community-wide leadership presence, exploring multi-sector partnerships, building awareness of the sector's value, and advocating for more support.
- Operate through an equity lens, which includes ensuring diverse representation on our board, on our staff, and among our suppliers and vendors; and building connections that create an organization that meets the needs of BIPOC-led organizations. Operationally, this means that:
- We committed to diversifying our faculty and trainers for learning programs; the fundraising school faculty is 40% BIPOC.
- 50% of our current Board is now comprised of BIPOC people. We’ve also updated our Board training and strategic planning to acknowledge the importance of creating a racially equitable organization.
- We’ve diversified our team, and together we have done intensive training on diversity and anti-racism.
- Strengthen nonprofit impact, which includes focusing our learning, professional development, advocacy, customized consulting on the fundamentals: leadership, board governance, resource development, and nonprofit management.
- Ensure CNPE’s sustainability and viability, which includes promoting CNPE's value proposition, resources, and offerings; leveraging technology to elevate our offerings; implementing efficient, effective communications; supporting a robust data management program; and ensuring our financial health through foundational partnerships, annual giving, enhanced earned revenue, and resource management.
